Basics of 2D codes

2D codes contain information in the horizontal and vertical directions. This gives them a higher recording density than barcodes, which are 1D codes, and enables them to store a lot of information in a small area. 2D codes make small parts and products possible and enable large-capacity traceability management, which is not possible with barcodes. 2D codes come in two types: stack and matrix. The selection of which type to use depends on factors such as the amount of information to manage, the marking area, and the reading method. This chapter explains QR codes and DataMatrix codes.
